Services Resource Programme

” The primary focus of Listowel Family Resource Centre is to provide family support in an inclusive and empowering way. We achieve this by the provision of many services detailed in this website.”

Listowel Family Resource Centre is a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having Share Capital. The Centre is managed by a voluntary Board of Management, has Charitable Status and is registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority.

Listowel Family Resource Centre (FRC) is one of 121 FRC’s nationwide under the Family and Community Services Resource Programme and is responsible to the Child and Family Agency (TUSLA). This programme is Ireland’s largest family support programme delivering universal and targeted services and supports to all individuals, families and communities.

Listowel Family Resource Centre operates under a Voluntary Board of Management. Members are from the greater Listowel area and come from different backgrounds, interests and experiences. The Board, who meet regularly, plan and review the overall strategic procedures and work of Listowel Family Resource Centre. We have a staff team of over 30 and a volunteer base of over 20.

Leadership Team

Listowel Family Resource Centre have a wide variety of activities, programmes and supports. Therefore, a Leadership Team is in place to support the Manager in the day-to-day management and operation of the Centre.

Bio for Board members

Name Role Profile
Claire Creighton Chairperson I am a mother of 1 son and began as a service user. Having returned to education as an adult learner, I carried out work placements in the Childcare Centre while studying Childcare. I became a board member in 2013 and became Chairperson in 2016. I also carry out voluntary work in my local community and hold a BA Ordinary in Social Care.
Angelina Elbell Director/Staff Liaison person Professional experience: Human Resources Management with emphasis on Training, Development & Recruitment.
Two Children and five Grandchildren. Involvement in charitable organisations and community work over last number of years.
Particular interest in the work of Family Resource Centres.
Staffing sub-committee member at Listowel FRC and previous Chairperson of Board of Management.
Julie Gleeson Director As Chairperson of Listowel Laundry for Elderly with our room at rear of Family Centre, I was asked to join the Board because of that. The work that is done there is second to none, Staff are always so helpful, courteous & very dedicated. I am also involved with Listowel Tidy Towns for 22 years & I am current Chairperson. I am married with 3 children & 2 grandchildren.
Ann Davies Treasurer/ Director I have trained in Youth and Community and Social Work but have always worked in the voluntary sector. I am Co-ordinator of LINK North Kerry School Completion Programme and together with my colleagues work with seven schools in the North Kerry area providing in school, after school, out of school and holiday programmes to targeted students who under locally identified criteria are supported in school attendance, participation and retention.
I became a FRC Board member in 2011 and Treasurer / Director in 2012. I am married and have 2 sons.
Sean McCarthy Director I have been involved in Education and Community organisations since I started teaching. I served as Teacher, Adult Education Organiser and Principal in Listowel Community College.
During that time the school provided a wide range of Education services to the area. These included Part time and Full time Adult Education programmes ranging from Basic Education to Further and Higher Education. The school also introduced the first Autism Unit to the Post Primary section in recent years.
I have been involved with NEWKD in Listowel Area Council. I am a LFRC Board member since 2016.
I believe in the value of Education/Training for Individuals, Families and Community.
Renata Leahy Director/company secretary I am married and mother of two, living in Listowel. I work part time and act as secretary for Leahy Accounting Services Ltd, the family business.
I have a degree in Nutrition and worked as a Nutritionist for 15 years in my native Brazil.
I became part of the childcare subcommittee in 2015 and have been a member of the BOM of Listowel FRC in 2016.
